Supplementary Submission to the inquiry into the Australian Citizenship Amendment (Strengthening the Citizenship Loss Provisions) Bill 2018
The addtional submission to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security’s inquiry into the Australian Citizenship Amendment (Strengthening the Citizenship Loss Provisions) Bill 2018 was prepared by the Law Council.
The views expressed in this supplementary submission are the views of the Queensland Law Society.
Regarding proposed paragraph 35A(1)(b), the Society is concerned about the lack of detail as to the process the Minister must follow to determine whether the person is ‘not a national of any country or citizen of any country’. The Society considers that the determination process should be specified in the Bill.
