Proposed Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement: Submission Concerning Geographical Indications Issues
The submission to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in response to the proposed Australia-European Union Free Trade Agreement (A-EU FTA) was prepared by the Intellectual Property Committee of the Business Law Section.
The submission addresses issues relating to geographical indications (GIs) raised in SubSection 4 of the European Union's (EU) negotiating text for the intellectual property chapter of the proposed A-EU FTA.
It also takes into account the EU’s list of terms proposed to be protected as GIs (the list), which has been published for objection by the Australian Government.
