Taxation Committee
Through its policy and consultation work the Taxation Committee plays a key role in the strategic direction of the tax system and in the identification of opportunities to improve tax administration generally. The last four years have seen a marked increase in the number of significant changes and amendments to tax laws, many of which charter new and complex territory. The complexity of the tax system has continued to grow unabated.
The committee undertakes regular and ongoing consultation with the key stakeholders in the tax system include including the Australian Taxation Office, Treasury, the Board of Taxation and the Inspector-General of Taxation and Taxation Ombudsman.
