Federal Court Liaison Committee

The Federal Court Liaison Committee participates in regular liaison meetings with the Federal Court's Practice and Procedure Committee. Matter presently being examined jointly by the Section and Court committees are:

  • Review of the Docket System
  • Electronic Filing in the Federal Court
  • Self Representated Litigants
  • Federal Costs Assessment

The Federal Court Liaison Committee is also involved in regular liaison meetings with the Federal Magistrates Court.

The Federal Court Liaison Committee has provided assistance to the Law Council in recent year on matters including, The Federal Magistracy, ALRC Discussion Paper 62: Review of the Federal Civil Justice System, and the Federal Magistrates Regulations 2000. The Committee also provided input to the Law Council's submission on Cross-vesting: Position paper on solution to jurisdictional problems after the decision in Re Wakim: Ex parte McNally 1999
