Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers

In June 2008, the Law Council established the Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers Working Group (the Working Group) in response to increasing concerns within the legal profession regarding difficulties in recruiting and retaining lawyers, particularly in regional and rural areas, and the high attrition rates of women and young lawyers.

The Working Group will initially focus its efforts on developing a strategy to address the difficulties in attracting and retaining legal practitioners in rural, regional and remote (RRR) areas.

The Working Group's co-chairs are:

  • Alex Ward
  • Danny Barlow
