  • Colleagues - Other solicitors and barristers invariably are the best source of advice on the capabilities of advocates under consideration for briefing, including women barristers;
  • Clerks - Barristers clerks may be able to refer you to appropriate women barristers; and
  • Court - Be alert to good advocates in court, and in particular capable women barristers who may be able to represent your clients in future cases

Law Council of Australia

2009 Court Appearance Survey: The Law Council conducted a survey to measure the number of female barristers and advocates appearing in Australia's superior courts in 2009. The findings of this survey were released in December 2009. The Law Council's media releases are: "Survey on Women in Court" and "Benchmark Study Will Measure Rate of Female Representation in Court"
