Equalising Opportunities in the Law Committee
The Law Council's Equalising Opportunities in the Law Committee exists primarily to advise the Board of the Law Council on matters relevant to achieving equality of workplace opportunity within the Australian legal profession.
Issues
The Committee is currently examining the issues of:
- Development of a draft provision on anti Discrimination/ Sexual Harassment/ Workplace Bullying for incorporation into the revised Model Conduct Rules of Professional Conduct and Practice;
- Coordination of independent research projects such as the Court Appearance Survey and development of a strategy;
- Participation on Law Council committees and working groups such as Judicial Appointments; Indigenous Legal Issues; Retention of lawyers; and
- Development of the Law Council’s policy position, for example in relation to Flexible Work Practices.
