About

The World Masters of Law Firm Management seminar is an invaluable event that provides managers with effective strategies to promote growth and development in law practice.

Recent events have had: Ron Baker present on "Value Pricing: the next real thing for law firms"; Stephen Mason present on "Beyond Herding Cats: leading and motivating a team of talented individuals"; Ed Wesemann present on "Rewards for all", and Professor Tom de Long of the Harvard Business School present "A Harvard Masterclass".

The 2012 event will be on the theme of Legal Process Outsourcing - the real story.

Legal Process Outsourcing ("LPO") is booming and having a profound effect on the delivery of legal services. No firm is immune - whether your goal is to maintain or improve profitability, or to deliver better quality and more cost effective services to your clients as they demand "more for less". LPO offers opportunity to those who understand and embrace it - or poses a threat to those who ignore it.  However, there are significant pitfalls and challenges in implementing an effective LPO program - and it is certainly not suitable for every firm, large or small.

This unique seminar is not a sales pitch by consultants or outsourcing firms. Rather it is a highly practical and realistic "no holds barred" perspective from those who have pioneered legal process  outsourcing in law firms. You will benefit from their experience and learn how to assess the potential benefits for your firm, what issues to consider and obstacles to plan for, and how to go about a successful implementation.

Liam Brown
Liam founded Elevate (www.elevateservices.com) in 2011 to provide consulting and technology solutions that improve efficiency, quality and service for law firms and corporate legal departments. Previously he was the Founder, President and CEO of Integreon, Inc. (www.integreon.com), which he led from start-up in 2001 to annual sales of nearly $150 million by 2011. Under his leadership, Integreon pioneered the global delivery of high-value, legal, research and business services and technology to 32 of the Am Law 50, all of the top 10 global investment banks, 9 of the top 10 life sciences companies, 6 of the top 10 technology companies and 17 of the top 50 global brands.

Liam has twenty years of experience in the Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) industry, primarily serving investment banks, law firms and Global 1000 corporations. Prior to Integreon, he was the President, COO and co-founder of Conscium, a web-based virtual deal room business serving lawyers and bankers, which he sold in 2001 to then-NYSE-listed Bowne & Co. He is also an active investor in Web 2.0 and Cloud technologies, and an executive coach for founders of startups (www.forwardinnovations.com).

Trish Hyde
Trish Hyde, CEO of the Australian Corporate Lawyers Association, has over 15 years corporate leadership experience, including researching complex matters and identifying key trends and insights for business strategy. She has held three Directorships, has a Masters in Corporate Leadership, will complete a Masters of Commercial Law this year and is a Fellow of the Australian Marketing institute.

Carole Caple

The ASCR have already commenced in South Australia and Queensland and are expected to come into operation in NSW and Victoria in the latter part of 2012. Carole's current areas of research include the ethical implications for solicitors of the use of emerging technologies and practices. While reliance on legal process outsourcing cannot be described as 'new', recent concerns have been expressed by legal profession regulators in Australia and overseas. Carole has written on LPO and is advising the PEC on recommendations for ethical use.

His clients are IT departments and sourcing teams engaged in complex technology sourcing transactions or dealing with the legal issues raised by information technology. Based in Sydney, he has international experience having lived and worked as a lawyer in London (6 years) and Singapore (4 years). Much of Graham's work has involved cross-border technology transactions and he is familiar with the challenges thrown up by multi-jurisdiction deals.

Graham has extensive experience in LPO, having developed material relationships with Indian based Legal Process Outsourcing companies (Pangea3 and Quislex). He has established offshore drafting utilities in Mumbai and Bangalore to support drafting of ISDA documentation for New York, London, Frankfurt and Singapore based legal teams.
